Rik has built his career by helping organizations develop and manage their brands through strategic design and communications for competitive advantage. His broad expertise in brand consulting, corporate identity, packaging, book design, design communications and photography comes from over two decades as a practitioner.
In 1992, Rik founded Carty Design + Media, a consultancy dedicated to developing expert, strategically driven design communications, corporate identity and branding. His clients include Vancouver Airport Services, Vancouver Airport Art Foundation, Cantest Labs, The Canadian Avalanche Centre, and Dixon Transition Society.
Before founding CD+M, Rik held senior positions specializing in package design and branding. He designed packaging and point of sale material for clients such as Labatt’s, Tetley, Bata Shoes, Nestlé, Smuckers and others.
Rik continues to explore the issues and trends that affect business communications, identity design and branding today and puts that knowledge to work for his clients.
